CXN INDUSTRY REPORTChina’s Beer Industry內容提要:
Globalization Trends
At present, almost all major beer companies are located in mature markets. To expand sales in the future they will look to new markets with high growth rates. All the companies have a long history in the business, access to capital, advanced technology, and strong brand image. For example, Anheuser Busch has set up production in Canada, Latin America, Great Britain, and Asia. Brahma of Brazil, which maintains 50.0% of its national market, has gained 12.0% market share in Argentina and Venezuela. Large beer companies like Heineken, Miller and Kirin have also adopted globalization strategies.
Recently, global beer companies have focused on the developing markets of South Americaand Asia. Now nearly all the leading breweries have joint ventures in China, including Anheuser Busch, Japan’s Asahi, Carlsberg of Denmark, Danone of France, Foster’s of Australia, Interbrew of Belgium, and Kirin of Japan. These companies are producing products for middle to upper class consumers. Some have been very successful in the Chinese market, for example Wuhan Dongxi Lake Beer Co., a Sino-French joint venture started by Danone (60.0% ownership) ranked among the top ten beer enterprises in China. Danone also owns 70.0% of the Tangshan Haomen brewery. Budweiser (Wuhan) International Brewery Co., 91.8% of which is held by Anheuser Busch, was the first major investment in China for this U.S. brewery.
